St Kilda Wedding
St Kilda is a small archipelago off the Western coast of Scotland, part of the Outer Hebrides. To find the dot look into the ocean to the left of Stornaway. The largest island is Hirta. The population has never been more than 200, though there is evidence of settlement there since medieaval times. Now only inhabited by the military all year round there are naturalists and National Trust workers present also for much of the year, studying the remains left by the native St Kildans as well as the variety of seabirds and other wildlife.
A wedding in this place would have been a great occasion and so this beautiful tune should be played with due reverence. Not too fast; enjoy the lilt and flow and imagine the windswept rocks and the calls of gulls, gannets and puffins as you play.
